Privacy Policy — AI Typewriter Buffer

Last updated: August 2026

AI Typewriter Buffer ("the extension") helps you correct spelling and grammar as you type in text fields on any website. This page explains what data the extension processes and how.

What data is processed

When you type in a text field and the extension triggers a correction, the text you typed (and, for multi-part corrections, the portion of text corrected immediately before it, used as context) is sent to our backend server and from there to Google's Gemini API for spelling and grammar correction. No other data — browsing history, page content outside the field you are actively editing, credentials, or personal identifiers — is collected or transmitted.

How the data is used

The text is used solely to generate a corrected version, which is sent back to the extension and inserted into the field you were editing. We do not use this data for advertising, profiling, analytics, or any purpose other than performing the correction you requested.

Storage and retention

We do not store corrected text in a database. Our server logs each request temporarily (input text, output text, token usage, and cost) to our hosting provider's application logs for debugging and abuse prevention. These logs are not used for any other purpose and are subject to our hosting provider's standard log retention policy.

Third parties

We do not sell or share your data with any other third party.

Permissions

The extension requests the minimum permissions needed to function: reading and modifying the text field you are actively editing, running its correction script on the page, and communicating with our backend server over HTTPS.
